Supporting Continued Energy Development in Southeast Asia

New Flowserve QRC serving key oil and gas customers

During the grand opening of Flowserve’s new quick response center (QRC) in Brunei, participants signed a board to show their commitment to support the success of the QRC as well as the sustainable growth of the country’s oil and gas production. It was another tangible example of how Flowserve is helping create flow control solutions that improve lives and business outcomes.

Supporting an oil and gas economy

Flowserve’s newest valve QRC is in Brunei, a small but wealthy country on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. Following the discovery of oil and natural gas more than 80 years ago, energy has become the largest and fastest-growing sector in Brunei. Under the Brunei Vision 2035, the oil and gas industry plans to rise to $36.1 billion USD per year and increase oil production to 800,000 barrels per day, which will be more than 650,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD) compared to 430,000 BOEPD in 2017.

Shell, a key global account for Flowserve, operates as Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP). Shell has been in Brunei for more than 80 years and is continuously increasing its investment. Our Brunei QRC will support the operations of BSP and another key client, Brunei Liquid Natural Gas (BLNG), with a range of repair, engineering and aftermarket services for valves and actuation. Flowserve is viewed as an important partner not only in the development of Brunei’s energy resources, but also in the development of the country’s engineering talent.

Opening grandly

Representatives from BSP, BLNG, EPCs* and suppliers joined with Flowserve staff to celebrate the grand opening event with presentations, tours, refreshments and informal conversations. Key speakers at the event included Craig Ellsworth, Vice President and General Manager, Flow Control Operations; Pg Hj Adanan, head of Flowserve–Brunei; and Norrainywarti Hujan, discipline head of engineering at BSP.

Flowserve emphasized how our QRC engineers and technicians will help keep our customers’ flow control equipment operational and their plants operating at peak condition. By providing time-sensitive parts or repairs, reliability-based upgrades or in-depth engineering analysis, Flowserve will support the success and growth of their business.

* Industry term for engineering, procurement and construction companies that are hired by oil and gas companies for long-term projects that need to be completed by individuals with specific skills.
