Literature Type: Technical Bulletin
Description: This document details the protection, control and monitoring capabilities of the MX range of electric actuators. The Flowserve Limitorque MXb non-intrusive actuator consists of a mechanical gearbox powered by an electric motor. The three-phase MXb actuator is controlled by an integral electromechanical starter and employs state-of-the-art surface mount technology (SMT) controls. Each MXb actuator is double-sealed and weatherproof to IP68 (15 m [49.2 ft] for 96 hours) NEMA 4, 4X and 6, with hazardous location versions available.
Literature Number: LMENBR2307-00
Description: Simple Fireproof Protection, Quickly! FR Shells, manufactured by Mov Limited, offer an intumescent fireproof coating in a removable design. The construction is reinforced with wire to enhance its performance and protection of the valve actuator for at least 30 minutes against a hydrocarbon fire. Based on this design capability, the valve actuator will not require being sent to the OEM for replacement coatings in the event of a fire. The intumescent coating can be installed on-site for existing actuators without any modification.

Description: Valve automation dramatically improves control, precision and efficiency. While these advantages must be weighed against higher capital and operating costs, actuators are frequently found to be a cost-effective investment for most oil and gas applications. This white paper is a guide to actuators for upstream and midstream oil and gas applications. It covers electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, gas-powered and electro-hydraulic actuation. (Authored by Jacqueline Onditi, Earnest Carey, David Montgomery, and Lorenzo Colonna Preti.)
Literature Number: FLS-VA-EWP-00002-EN-EX-US-0518
Description: Brushless DC electric (BLDC) motors have been in use for nearly 50 years, but have only recently been employed in smart actuation. Their adaptation is key to improving process control and plant safety systems. This white paper explains the advantages of BLDC motors in actuation. (Authored by Earnest Carey.)
