Flowserve Partners With Military Makeover To Improve Veteran’s Home

Flowserve Volunteers Come Together for Wounded Veteran

Through the Flowserve Cares community impact program, our associates are improving people’s lives throughout the world, giving back and making a positive impact in local communities where they live and work. As part of that program, Flowserve is honored to support the military men and women who have devoted their lives to serving and protecting our country.

Watch a brief video to see how Flowserve volunteers are making a difference in their communities.

Video Transcript: At Flowserve, it's not just our 230-year history of industry leading flow control product brands that help support our purpose statement of making the world better for everyone, it's our people and their commitment to our customers and the communities where they live and work that truly makes the difference. Flowserve is a proud supporter of Military Makeover and the veteran community.

Veterans and their families give so much to us, and we’re thrilled to be able to give something back. Our associates joined Military Makeover with Montel Williams on Lifetime, a program that offers a helping hand to members of our military and their loved ones. As part of the series, Flowserve associates helped transform the home and lives of the Tabora family of Converse, Texas.

A Devastating Accident

Corporal Jacob Tabora was based as a Tank Gunner at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California. As he was training for his second deployment, a 120mm round malfunctioned and exploded, leaving Jacob with second- and third-degree burns over more than half his body.

After five years in burn recovery in the care of the extraordinary Burn Unit at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Jacob finally started to feel like himself again.

Coming Together to Help

Flowserve associates joined other volunteers near San Antonio to help the Tabora family by renovating their home. The Flowserve team members helped transform the backyard by installing playground equipment, enhancing the backyard fence, and building a grill. Additionally, the company provided iPads for the children.

Now, the Taboras have a redesigned home where they can raise their three children in comfort. It’s a small thank you for all the Taboras have sacrificed for our country.
