The MX is Flowserve Limitorque's product entry in the non-intrusive, double-sealed, smart electronic actuator marketplace. Introduced to International markets in 1997 and to North America in 1998, the MX has been readily accepted into all major market segments, including Power Generation, Petro-chemical, and Water/Waste Water Treatment.

The MX can be found on all six habitable continents. It is the platform for current and future network developments, including Modbus DDC, Foundation Fieldbus H1, Profibus DP_V1, Profibus_ PA and is now available with DeviceNet. The MX can easily be distinguished from other smart valve actuators with its patented absolute encoder that doesn't require battery back-up and features B.I.S.T.(Built In Self Test)capability for self-diagnosis. Additional features include easy configuration in nine languages, patented LimiGard circuitry, which safeguards the actuator from spurious electro-magnetic interference.

The MX can provide torque output of up to 1700 ft.lbs. Several enhancements have been made to the MX, including replacement of an outdated perforated through hole PCB controls set with SMT (Surface Mount Technology) controls in 2003. An improved ACP (Actuator Control Panel) with recessed knobs and solid state Hall-effect devices in lieu of reed switches has replaced the original controls cover.

MX's have been selected as the electronic actuator for the Department of Environmental Protection of the City of New York which has placed orders for > 1000 of these actuators. Many of these units are networked controlled utilizing the MX and Flowserve Limitorque's Master Station II.

The MX has also been selected for use in Marine fueling stations and networked using Modbus communications and Flowserve Limitorque's Master Station II via Ethernet.

For 2005 and 2006, MX units have been shipped into China for use in pipelines and power generation facilities. The MX is just one of a number of devices that demonstrates the spirit of Flowserve's commitment to be ''the foremost specialist valve and controls manufacturing organization in the world.''
