Flowserve Provides Newly Developed, Custom-Engineered Pumps for the DuPont™ IsoTherming® Hydroprocessing Technology

DALLAS, September 10, 2012 — Flowserve Corporation (NYSE: FLS), a leading provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, today announced an order for newly-developed, custom-engineered, critical service reactor recycle pumps to be used in the new DuPont™ IsoTherming® process. The multi-million dollar order was booked in the second quarter of 2012.
DuPont™ IsoTherming® Hydroprocessing Technology gives petroleum refiners a more economical and flexible means to produce today’s ultra-low-sulfur transportation fuels. The Flowserve pumps are designed to operate at the high pressures and temperatures required in the DuPont™ IsoTherming® process, while also maximizing online availability and providing very high mean time between repair (MTBR) required for un-spared, critical service. The design of the pumps is based on the proven Flowserve model PR reactor recycle pump, which is used worldwide in various residuum oil upgrading processes.
The IsoTherming® Hydroprocessing Technology offered by DuPont Sustainable Solutions represents a new market for Flowserve technology. An engineering team from Flowserve worked closely with DuPont for several years to develop a solution that met the technical and commercial needs of the process used for the production of clean fuels.
In addition to the custom-engineered pumps, the order includes the advanced Flowserve Online Assurance Monitoring system which enables the end user to monitor the pump’s health and operating conditions in real time. Utilizing Web-based tools, the Online Assurance Monitoring system is also designed to enable specialized technical experts from Flowserve to continually monitor the pump and assist with remote and on-site maintenance.
